This collection of ink illustrations entitled Neko 365is an ongoing illustration project inspired by Japan's reverence and love of cats, known as Neko in Japanese, 猫 (ねこ).
Cats have been revered in Japan for centuries and continue to feature heavily in Japanese art, literature and culture. Throughout Japan you will encounter a multitude of cat cafes, cat islands, cat photo books, cat station masters and even cat temples devoted to celebrating and revering these fascinating creatures.
This ongoing illustration series is inspired by playful woodblock print The Fifty-three Stations of the Tōkaidō, (1850), by Japanese illustrator Utagawa Kuniyoshi.
